Some Paradoxes...

Barber paradox: A barber (who is a man) shaves all and only those men who do not shave themselves. Does he shave himself?

Berry paradox: The phrase "the first number not nameable in under ten words" appears to name it in nine words.

Crocodile dilemma: If a crocodile steals a child and promises its return, if the father can correctly guess exactly what the crocodile will do, how should the crocodile respond in the case that the father correctly guesses that the child will not be returned?

Paradox of the Court: A law student agrees to pay his teacher after winning his first case. The teacher then sues the student (who has not yet won a case) for payment.

Curry's paradox: "If this sentence is true, then Santa Claus exists."

Epimenides paradox: A Cretan says: "All Cretans are liars".

Exception paradox: "If there is an exception to every rule, then every rule must have at least one exception; the exception to this one being that it has no exception." "There's always an exception to the rule, except to the exception of the rule—which is, in of itself, an accepted exception of the rule." "In a world with no rules, there should be at least one rule - a rule against rules."

Liar paradox: "This sentence is false." This is the canonical self-referential paradox. Also "Is the answer to this question no?", "I'm lying", And "Everything I say is a lie."

Card paradox: "The next statement is true. The previous statement is false." A variant of the liar paradox that does not use self-reference.
The Pinocchio paradox: What would happen if Pinocchio said "My nose will be growing"?. Pinocchio's nose grows if he s lying.

Yablo's paradox: An ordered infinite sequence of sentences, each of which says that all following sentences are false.

Opposite Day: "It is opposite day today." Therefore it is not opposite day, but if you say it is a normal day it would be considered a normal day.

Socratic paradox: "I know that I know nothing at all."

"What is this life if, full of care"

What is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
No time to stand beneath the boughs
And stare as long as sheep or cows.
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass.
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night.
No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance.
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began.
A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

FAMOUS SHREK, THE SHEEP

Shrek the sheep ran away and hid in a cave in New Zealand for 6 years. When Shrek was finally found in 2004, the sheep had gone unsheared for so long that it had accumulated 60 pounds of wool on its body, enough to make 20 suits! The sheep became famous and even got to meet the Prime Minister. Shrek finally passed away 2 years back at the age of 16.

Friends...

The best kind of friends are the ones that you share good times with. A friend who can make you laugh is worth a handful who can't. So often we walk around with the weight of the world on our shoulders. Our bodies become tense and this is a cause for most illnesses. Having humor in your life is not just a matter of a good time, it's also a matter of living longer. Often when you have a friendship that has lasted a long time you continue to share memories of humorous interactions that you shared. This may be the glue that holds the friendship together.

Communicate well or forever be misunderstood

Many Surveys over years indicate that successful people are those who can communicate well. All Knowledge and technical skills become useless if you don't know how to communicate .People evaluate by the way they see and hear us. Hence good communication can make good impression, projects confidence and builds trusting relationships quickly.

Answer the following simple questions
1) How many really good communicators have I known who were out of work very long?
2)If I had a choice to spend a social evening with a good communicator or a poor communicator, which one would I select?
3)If an employer has a choice of promoting a good communicator and a poor , which applicant do I think will get the promotion?

Leaders consistently rate verbal, non-verbal and writing skills as key skills for success.People will respect you for having a clear vision and you will be on their mind when opportunities become available.

You can asses yourself on how well you communicate
1) Speech-Seek an honest critique of your ability to speak in casual and in formal settings.Peers value the interpersonal skills.Work at eliminating anything that distracts you from your effectiveness when speaking.
2) Body language- Your body language speaks volumes to the observer.Assess your posture in variety of settings.Concentrate on pleasant facial expressions and remain poised in all circumstances.
3)Writing- Get someone to review your writing skills. Grammar checks and spell checks are effective on computer. But they are no substitute for effective writing.
4)Communication etiquette- Do you encourage conversation by introducing topics and by asking questions of others? Do you stay focused on other people's thoughts or are your own more interesting to you ?
5)Paralanguage-The best conversationalist is an active listener.Does your paralanguage - verbal sounds of agreement, surprise, understanding and disagreement etc...- encourage and compliment others when they're talking?

Some attributes above are natural but you must work on some others. Photographs and videotape recordings come in handy.

Confidence comes from being well prepared. Hence be prepared, be sincere, and communicate with confidence!!!

Life is Simple

Why complicate life?

Missing somebody? ..Call
Wanna meet up? ..Invite
Wanna be understood?..Explain
Have questions?..Ask
Don't like something?..Say it
Like something?..State it
Want something?.. Ask for it
Love someone?..Tell it
We just have one life, keep it simple...

Hats off to this man

The man in the picture is Rachid Nekkaz, a French-Algerian businessman living in France.

When he heard about the niqab ban in France, he announced that he will pay all fines for women who wear the niqab - not just in France but in any country in the world that prohibits the women from doing so.

He opened a fund of 1 million euros then he said, "My sister, go out free wherever you want and I will pay the fine for you".
If you wish to experience peace, provide peace for another. If you wish to know that you are safe, cause another to know that they are safe. If you wish to better understand seemingly incomprehensible things, help another to better understand. If you wish to heal your own sadness or anger, seek to heal the sadness or anger of another.

Lesson learnt from Baby Giraffeeeeeeeeee

Baby giraffes never go to school. But they learn a very important lesson rather early in life. A lesson that all of us would do well to remember. The birth of a baby giraffe is quite an earth-shaking event. The baby falls from its mother's womb, some eight feet above the ground. It shrivels up and lies still, too weak to move. The mother giraffe lovingly lowers her neck to smooch the baby giraffe. And then something unbelievable happens. She lifts her long leg and kicks the baby giraffe,

sending it flying up in the air and tumbling down on the ground. As the baby lies curled up, the mother kicks the baby again and again until the baby giraffe, still trembling and tired, pushes its limbs and for the first time learns to stand on its feet. Happy to see the baby standing on its own feet, the mother giraffe comes over and gives it yet another kick. The baby giraffe falls one more time, but now quickly recovers and stands up.

Mama Giraffe is delighted. She knows that her baby has learnt an important lesson: Never mind how hard you fall, always remember to pick yourself up and get back on your feet.

Why does the mother giraffe do this? She knows that lions and leopards love giraffe meat. So unless the baby giraffe quickly learns to stand and run with the pack ? it will have no chance of survival.

Most of us though are not quite as lucky as baby giraffes. No one teaches us to stand up every time we fall. When we fail, when we are down, we just give up. No one kicks us out of our comfort zone to remind us that to survive and succeed, we need to learn to get back on our feet.

True Story

The Trouble Tree

The carpenter I hired to help me restore an old farmhouse had just finished a rough first day on the job. A flat tire made him lose an hour of work, his electric saw quit, and now his ancient pickup truck refused to start.

While I drove him home, he sat in stony silence. On arriving, he invited me in to meet the family. As we walked toward the front door, he paused briefly at a small tree, touching the tips of the branches with both hands.

After opening the door, he underwent an amazing transformation. His face was wreathed in smiles, and he hugged his two small children and then gave his wife a kiss.

Afterward, he walked me to my car. We passed the tree, and my curiosity got the better of me. I asked him about what I had seen him do earlier.

“Oh, that’s my trouble tree,” he replied. “I know I can’t help having troubles on the job, but one thing for sure, troubles don’t belong in the house with my wife and children. So I just hang them up on the tree every night when I come home. Then in the morning, I pick them up again.”

“Funny thing is,” he smiled, “when I come out in the morning to pick them up, there aren't nearly as many as I remember hanging up the night before.”

How do you  feel now?
In the friends episode 12 of season 2, Phoebe chats with a man who hires her to play in concert. And the man replies, "Maybe if you just played some regular kiddie songs... Like some stupid, big, like, purple dinosaur? You don't have to be Barney."

Since I did not understand, I googled what he meant by "Barney". Thanks to Barney Stinson- "How I met your mother", I now will never know what he meant.

Same sex marriage

Before my dear readers read this post, I would want them to know that this article is just my opinion and not to hurt anyone. And just to be clear, I am for same sex marriage.

Same- sex marriage is legal in countries like New Zealand, Netherlands, Belgium ,Spain, Canada, South Africa,Norway, Portugal, Argentina, Denmark, Uruguay...
France became the 14th country to approve the marriage and adoption.

The way one person feels about another is up to that person. It is nature and it is how somebody was born. One has no rights to separate them. It is a question of freedom and equality.

When I looked at the arguments against gay marriage, one argument that I came across very frequently is "Against God". To that argument say God wanted them to be Gay. That is why he created them this way. Nothing makes God happier than when any two people come together in love.

It is also known that homosexuality can be seen in other living organisms too..

Another reason against marriage was, it imposes a restriction on all society. Well from what I understand, two gays from the same-sex marriage hating society will not marry even if it is legal. So why do we have to prevent two gays from the same-sex marriage approving society from marrying by making it illegal?

Same-sex marriage is not an issue, people just choose it to be an issue. If one is going to marry another, it should be a decision made by the two people in marriage alone and nobody is supposed to mess with it.

It has been scientifically proven that same sex couples are at worst no worse parents to same sex couples. Furthermore, homosexuals inability to procreate would help reduce the number of children living in orphanages due to an increase in the adoption rate.

By my rule, same-sex marriage will not hurt others and also will make 2 gays or lesbians happy while preventing them would result in somebody getting hurt.

Athena & Poseidon

Here is a Greek mythology that I like to share with my readers ...

In ancient Greece, each town had a special deity, a god that looked after them. Poseidon was Zeus' brother.
He was Athena's uncle. He was also Lord of the Sea. Poseidon was a very powerful god. He loved attention. He loved having towns build temples to worship him. He loved the gifts people brought him.

Poseidon was always on the lookout for towns that had not yet been claimed by a god. He wanted as many towns as possible to call his own. Although towns could only have one god to watch over them, gods could watch over as many towns as they chose.

One day, Athena, goddess of wisdom, and Poseidon, lord of the sea, both claimed the village of Athens. Back then, Athens was pretty small. Normally, the people would have been thrilled to be selected by a god to watch over them. But two gods at once? A town could have only one guardian, and they did not want to choose. They did not want to anger either god.

Athena, who was wise as well as beautiful, understood their worry. She suggested that both gods should give the town a gift. The townspeople could decide which gift was better.  Poseidon loved the idea. The townspeople, if possible, were even more nervous than before.

Poseidon tapped the side of the mountain. Water flowed out in a beautiful stream. Fresh water was so important. The people were sure Poseidon had won. When they tasted the water, they tried to smile, but they had to spit the water out. It was salt water!

Then Athena waved her hand. An olive tree began to grow. The people tasted the olives. Smiles broke out. The olives were delicious. The olive tree would provide food, shelter, and oil for cooking. It was a magnificent gift indeed.

But no coastal town in their right mind would risk angering the lord of the sea, the mighty Poseidon. Fortunately, for the people of Athens, they did not have to choose.

Poseidon threw back his head and laughed his hearty roar. "Yours is a far better gift than mine, my lovely niece. I award you Athens."

And that is how Athena became the guardian of the city-state of Athens. Even today, Athena's special tree is the olive.

It is said there were many people in ancient Greece who were sure that Athens rise to fame was due mostly to Athena's wise direction. But that is probably just a myth.

My one rule...

As long as I am happy and I do not hurt others physically or emotionally I am always right, unless I am doing it for defense.

Poseidon

Many people would have watched the movie Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief , Percy Jackson and the Sea of monsters... Well I loved the movie and went to look into Greek mythology. So I chose to write about Poseidon- The powerful god of seas.

Poseidon is the Lord of the Sea. His brothers were Zeus - the king of all the gods, and Hades - the king of the underworld.

Poseidon was a good looking fellow. He had deep blue eyes and streaming green hair.  He was a  restless fellow, always on the move.

Poseidon was very powerful. He could raise his hand and a new island would appear! The Greeks were terrified of Poseidon.

All the Greeks, but especially those who lived in coastal towns, built a temple to honor Poseidon. They brought special gifts to the temple every day, hoping to keep him happy. Sometimes it worked. Sometimes it didn't. Poseidon was very moody.

Poseidon had many wives. But his main wife was not jealous, so Poseidon did not have the problems at home that Zeus did.

Poseidon kept a royal residence on Mount Olympus, but he was rarely there. He only visited when he had to attend a meeting of the council of gods. He preferred his palace at the bottom of the sea. The exterior was made of bright gold. But it was the inside of the palace that was truly magnificent. Inside, Greek columns supported raised fountains. There were colorful seaweed gardens and paths of white sand and beds of glittering jewels and pearls and chunks of amber. Colored fish darted everywhere. At night, the whole palace was softly lit by thousands of glow-worms. It was a magical place.

Eggs

Cooked eggs have twice as much protein as raw eggs!

Egg proteins contribute substantially to the daily nitrogen allowances in Western countries and are generally considered to be highly digestible. However, information is lacking on the true digestibility of either raw or cooked egg protein.

We see at movies and television shows at all-time people eating raw eggs before they start their exercise routine, apparently because it is healthier and it has more protein than cooked eggs.

This is false. Cooked eggs have way more digestible protein than raw eggs, which means that if you are planning to start a new healthy life style, that you should cook your eggs before you eat them.

HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME !!!

Hi Guys, Today I will finally write about how I celebrated my birthday amazingly...
The second the clock hit 00:00, my mom and sister stuffed my mouth with chocolates.  (I do not like cakes ... :P)
Then my dad had called me to wish me.Then my friends started wishing me one by one. They did not allow me to sleep.I finally slept at 2:00 am, But then again I started getting calls early in morning.

Me and my friends went to kfc for lunch and had all possible fun we could have. Our lunch ended with giving kfc the feedback and kidding the nice waiter there. :D
Then my friends surprised me with an a greeting card. My two best friends had written nice and emotional words for me to cherish in my heart.

That night again my parents, my sister and me went out for dinner. We ordered the traditional spicy food from the best restaurant. Even the name of the food was mouth watering.
I took really funny pictures there :P

Another surprise awaited me the next day. My best friends had captured all the beautiful moments in our college life , and gave it to me inside a photo frame. I could not express my happiness then and all I could do was smile as if I had a hanger in my mouth. My parents were very happy too...

I thank everybody for making this birthday wonderful...I really appreciate the love of my family and friends :)

Longest Eclipse

On July 22 2009 the longest and brightest solar eclipse of the 21st century lasted for 6 minutes, 39 seconds. The shadow from the eclipse was only visible on the ground in certain regions across the Pacific and Indian oceans for a very brief period of time.

A mathematician from the Czech Republic and some of his colleagues were able to capture and composite 31 photographs from that day's events. The wispy lines visible around the moon are actually the sun’s corona.

Another solar eclipse of that magnitude is not expected until 2132.

My Hair Smoothening Experience

Initially, I was scared because of many articles on how hair Straightening  affects hair and causes hair fall. But then one of my friends who did smoothening gave good comments. So I took the risk.

I received a lot of instructions from the professional on how to maintain. I was asked not to wash the hair for next 3 days. Also I must not tie the hair and keep it without bending even during sleep for the next 3 days.

When I looked into the mirror, I had a great shock. My hair looked like it has disguised itself for Halloween(:P). But my friend assured me that it will become pretty as soon as take my first hair wash.

The next 3 days was very difficult for me. I followed the instructions very strictly till I washed my hair. Then like my friend said, it was pretty!!!

I had to go for hair spa every month. But later I found that applying oil before hair wash gave me the same results as spa. I initially used WELLA shampoo. But since it did not suit my hair, I switched to l'oreal.  I do my straightening every 5-6 months (on new hair that grows). I take hair wash once in 3 days. I really feel hair smoothing is not very hair-damaging in contrast to the general opinion.

I went to the same parlor where my friend did it. Since my hair was very curly and dry, I had to do rebonding. After 3-4 hours of heavy work(by the professionals) and me sitting idle, my hair was straight!!!

In your 20's

Your 20s are a time where you can get away with being childishly reckless and yet you’re adult enough to do the things that children can’t. Here’s how to embrace it.

1. Backpack without plans–all you need is a flight there and a flight back with a few months in between. One day you’ll be too old or surly or rich or fussy to sleep in dorms of 24 people, or on a roof in Greece, or a street in Paris. Do it in your 20s so you can remember it as the most romantic thing that ever happened to you.

2. Love as recklessly as you can. Let yourself have that relationship that suffocates you with emotion every day, where the highs are inexplicably stratospheric and the lows are explosions and screams and hot tears. Go there with someone, be your best, most joyful and your worst, most vindictive self with them–love wildly, because one day you’ll be too weary or too rational for that.

3. Give your credit card a workout because you don’t have kids or a mortgage. Eat cans of beans for dinner but do it in the gorgeous dress you bought and your best high heels because you’ll never be this young or this stupid again, so you might as well have the decadent things that make you happy, guilt free.

4. Go a week without showering–whether you’re on deadline or studying for finals, just be a gross filth pot when you don’t have to go out into the world. You will get to know yourself in ways you never imagined. Find comfort in knowing that without showers, everyone is the same.

5. Be as glamorous as possible. Put aside your insecurities because whatever you think about yourself is objectively wrong. You are young and hot and full of energy so doll yourself up like you’re about to walk the red carpet and indulge in compliments.

6. Have at least one night where you cry ridiculously and listen to Adele while drinking wine and chain smoking. Once you have a family or a career or a spouse you will not have the time or the space to be this disgustingly self indulgent.

7. Get all your friends together in a group and go somewhere. Take a flight to Mexico or a drive upstate. Soon you’ll all be so busy you’ll be lucky if two of you can even be in the same place at the same time. Enjoy this time when your lives are defined by freedom and time.

8. Write about your feelings, which right now, are big and important. In 10, 15, 20 years, you’ll be able to go back and chuckle over your confessions, the same way you do now over your high school journal. Indulge yourself in your moment, without shame or fear.

9. Stay up until 10am on a rooftop with some friends and watch the sun come up over Manhattan, or wherever it is you live. Up that high, as the world comes awake, you will see how infinite the world is, and how detached from it you can be. As you get older, the more reluctant you’ll be to stay up past midnight, so sleep when you’re old.

10. Do some drugs. Nothing hard like heroin or ice, but do some mushrooms or take some ecstasy in a room full of people you love. Hold hands and stroke each others hair, and tell one another how wonderful you are. Drugs are pretty stupid, so try them out while they still have some mystique.

11. Eat whatever you want. Don’t be a greedy pig, but if you want some McDonald’s, eat some McDonald’s. Take advantage of your metabolism while you still have it, and don’t let hang-ups about food get in your way of devouring a huge cheese platter or an entire block of chocolate. Life was meant to be eaten.

12. Go on a long ass drive alone. Play all your favorite songs and coast with one hand out the window as you rip past the epic scenery. Have no where to go, and relish in just being and moving. Doing things with no end goal is about as free as you can get.

13. Say yes to everything. If someone you just met invites you to a party, or to a reading or a picnic–say yes. Meet as many people as you can. Turn up to places where you don’t know anyone and be a butterfly. Socializing becomes harder as you get older and people become more set in their ways and lives. Use this opportunity to broaden your perspective with the perspective of others.

14. Sleep with a stranger. Be safe, obviously, but sleep with someone you just met. Spend the night bantering in a bar, staring into each other’s eyes, and then go home and rock their socks. Let go of all your sexual inhibitions because you’ll never see this person again.

15. Do something you love, even if you are terrible at it. Even if you can’t sing, go to karaoke. If you’re terrible at art, make a painting. If you love doing it, do it. Don’t worry about the judgement of other people–make yourself happy doing the thing that makes you happy.

16. Volunteer. No matter how important or busy you think your life is right now, it’s not. You are insignificant and time rich. Do something good for the world that raised you, and enrich yourself by learning about the people around us that need help. Not everything in your 20s is about self indulgence (although most is); take this chance, while time is on your side, to give something back.

17. Do the thing you’re most terrified of. Jump out of a plane or go scuba diving. Terrify yourself and surprise yourself with your mettle. One day you will have held onto a fear for so long it might be impossible to overcome it, so stare down the barrel of the gun now, while you’re still bold and reckless.

18. Work towards something. Even if it’s not the thing you’ll end up doing the rest of your life, work towards something you’re proud of. This may be the only time in your life when you’re able to work on a hangover too, so there are no excuses for slacking off. Work hard, put your energy into something and when it’s done, point to it and say “I did that, that’s mine.”

19. Experiment. With jobs, sex, clothes, your personality–experiment as much as you can to find the things you like and the person you want to be. Now is the time to shape yourself, to cultivate your interests and set the foundation for the kind of life you’d like to live. If you try something on and don’t like it, just throw it out and start again–it’s that easy for you right now.

20. Be alone. Be so alone you start talking to yourself. Stay in on Saturday night but have the best time with yourself. Do whatever you want with your you time alone, but have it. Someday you will not be able to escape from the responsibilities you have to other people. Now is the time to be truly, spectacularly, comfortably alone.

PS: I read the above article and I really liked it...

My new Year

My New Year day, (Read Till the End)

My year 2014 officially started with me wishing watching the 1st episode of "How I met your Mother" at 00:00. Then I wished New Year to my friends and Family ... Like everybody.

Then I went out with my friends to the church. We Had a great time laughing in a hotel during lunch where I ended up befriending the waiter there. Then I went to a shopping Mall, did some shopping, had a coffee and wishing strangers "happy new year 2014". This ended with me befriending 3 strangers whose name was I never asked. Finally I came back home and I realized my mom was out and I did not have the room key.So again I selected a random number from my phone and started chatting with that person.

I also came to know that my friend proposed his girl and got accepted immediately at 00:00 !!!

To be honest I loved each and every moment of this day and to a person like me who makes every day amazing, "New year day" is as special and stunning as my other days.

( And I am conveying that I love each and every moment of my life )
